How to choose a signature font
A signature font should look like a person wrote it and still be readable at small sizes. Type your name above and look at it at a glance, the way it will be seen on a document.
- Natural styles (Herr Von Muellerhoff, Mrs Saint Delafield, Mr De Haviland, Whisper) look like a quick pen signature. Best when you want it to pass as handwritten.
- Elegant scripts (Great Vibes, Allura, Pinyon Script, Monsieur La Doulaise) have formal loops and big capitals: lovely for certificates, invitations and creative work.
- Handwritten styles (Dancing Script, La Belle Aurore, Caveat) are relaxed and very legible, good for notes and friendly brands.
- Bold styles (Mr Dafoe, Alex Brush, Arizonia) stay strong when small or printed lightly.
Long names fit better in narrower, faster fonts; short names can carry a flourish. Initials work in almost any style.
From font to signature in a few seconds
- Type your name at the top of this page.
- Choose Use this style on the one you like. The signature generator opens with your name in that font.
- Adjust size, slant and ink colour, then download a transparent PNG or an SVG.
Cursive signature styles: what makes one look real
Real signatures are fast. They lean forward, letters join and shrink towards the end, and the last stroke often trails off or underlines the name. Fonts that copy this rhythm (the Natural group) read as genuine; perfectly even scripts read as typeset.
If none of the fonts feels like you, draw your signature instead: the pad imitates a real pen, with thicker slow strokes and thinner fast ones.
About these fonts
All 24 are open-source fonts under the SIL Open Font License, served from this site (not from Google or any other third party), and only loaded when you look at them. You can use signatures made with them for personal and commercial documents.
Type a name in another script and the page switches to fonts made for it: Cyrillic (Marck Script, Bad Script), Japanese (Yuji Syuku, Yuji Boku, Zen Kurenaido, Klee One), Chinese (Ma Shan Zheng, Zhi Mang Xing, Liu Jian Mao Cao, Long Cang, LXGW WenKai TC, Iansui), Korean (Nanum Pen Script, Nanum Brush Script, Gaegu, East Sea Dokdo) and Thai (Charmonman, Sriracha, Mali, Itim). These fonts are large, so only the pieces holding the characters you typed are downloaded.

Questions and answers
What is the best font for a signature?
For a signature that looks handwritten, try Herr Von Muellerhoff, Mrs Saint Delafield or Mr De Haviland. For something formal and decorative, Great Vibes or Allura. The best one is the one that matches how you would write your name.
Is it legal to use a typed signature in a cursive font?
In many countries, a typed name can count as an electronic signature when you mean it as your signature, under laws such as the US ESIGN Act and UETA or the EU eIDAS regulation. The font does not change that. Some documents need a handwritten or certificate-based signature. This is general information, not legal advice.
Can I download these fonts?
This page shows them with your name and makes signature images. The fonts themselves are open source; you can find each one by name on Google Fonts or Fontsource to install it.
Why does my name look different from the preview in Word?
Word uses the fonts installed on your computer. Making the signature here gives you an image that looks the same everywhere, without installing anything.
Can I change the colour?
Yes: switch between black and blue ink here, and pick any colour in the generator.
